3:00 PM - 5:30 PMGentleman's Agreement is the classic screen portrayal of antisemitism among the "nicer people;" those who banned Jews from their clubs, hotels, offices, and colleges. They did so to protect such cherished institutions from what they saw as Jewish crassness and vulgarity. The cruel stereotypes that lay beneath such prejudice have transformed themselves since 1947 when this film was released (it won the Academy Award for best picture that year) but they can still be found among people who think themselves free of such prejudice. Join us for our screening of this important, classic film followed by a discussion of how things have and have not changed in the 76 years since it was made. As always, free popcorn
