Cantorial Soloist Nancy Huber
Cantorial Soloist Nancy Huber
Nancy became Cantorial soloist (Cantor) for Beth Israel Synagogue in 1988 when the Rabbi heard her singing during services and asked if she would help lead future Friday evening services. Soon after, she was introduced to Cantor Ken Cohen of Temple Shalom in Greenwich, CT.
This began Nancy’s weekly trips to Greenwich for High Holiday training. Nancy has continued to help lead occasional Friday evening services, Saturday morning Bar and Bat Mitzvah services and all High Holiday services.
In past years, she has participated in a number of community ecumenical services as well as memorial services at Connecticut Hospice. Nancy, who was widowed in 2017 after the passing of her husband Jack, has 4 grown children- Sarah, married to Jeff, Evan, married to Erin, Jennifer, married to Alex and Seth. She is the proud grandmother of Eli and Ryan (sons of Sarah and Jeff) and is looking forward to her first granddaughter, due in the beginning of December 2022 to Jen and Alex.
Nancy is retired from a long career as a Registered Nurse. Currently, she volunteers for Vista Life Innovations in Madison, CT, working in their gift shop. This non-profit organization is dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities throughout the different stages of their life.
