7:00 PM - 9:00 PMZOOM ONLYSnapshot Two: People of the Books
In our six-part series, we will be exploring Judaism as a civilization. Judaism is too broad a subject with too long and rich a history to be understood merely as a religion. We will examine that civilization through the lens of that history, that religion, and those forces from both within and without that have shaped its development up until today.
Jews have long been associated with The Book - that is, the Bible. But that Book is itself a collection of books, and it has given rise to an entire library of books. In this session, we will browse through this library as we try to understand the Jewish relation to the written word and to the way those words have shaped our identity.
